Hello Parents,
Just a heads up that the Way of the Shepherd will perform NWEA testing during the next week of April 23rd. A letter will be going home in your student folder with more information. While this is considered standardized test, it is wonderful in that it assesses the individual growth of each student. Some tips to ensure your adolescent is feeling ready for their test: Eat a healthy, sustaining breakfast. Research shows that eating breakfast starts your metabolism in the morning and helps maintain energy and focus throughout the day. Sleep for at least 8 hours, but the recommended time is 8-10 hours during teen years. Not only does it help with mood and energy, but sleeping allows the brain to "rest" and continue to wire together new synapses that are being formed due to learning. Encourage positivity: There is research that if a person predicts the type of day they are going to have, they commit a self-fulfilling prophecy. Therefore, if we wake up and are positive about a test or sports practice or even just being in a good mood, more often than not, that is the type of day we will have. |
